Antraal is a theatre group that gives the opportunity for self-development regardless of age, background, disability, gender, nationality, political persuasion, race, religious belief or sexual orientation. All the members of the group are either working professionals or students from various fields who share their common love for theatre and arts. The group has performed for in various theatre festivals of Urdu Academy, Sahitya Kala Parishad (New Delhi), Hindi Akademi, Sangeet Natak Akademi, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and many others.
Born in a small town in Bundelkhand, Akbar & Azam Quadri’s inclination towards performing arts led them to join Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) while they were still in school, which made them realise their passion for theatre. This adherence towards theatre made them lay the foundation of IPTA Jamia along with their few friends and later they founded Antraal in 2007. As directors, the brother duo has directed around 20 plays which include Mausam Ko Na Jaane Kya Ho Gaya, Jis Lahore Ni Vekhiya Voh Jamya Nai, Ek Aur Dronacharya, Jaat Na Poocho Sadho Ki, Ek Kahani Aise Bhi, Udne Ko Akash Chahiye, Future Bazar etc. Amongst these Mausam Ko Na Jaane Kya Ho Gaya, Udane Ko Akash Chahiye, Future Bazar, EK Kahani and Haqeem.Com have been penned by Azam and Akbar Quadri
Along with their Association with Antraal, both the brothers are currently working in Bombay film industry where they have acted in the movie Rockstar by Imtiaz Ali and will shortly be seen in the upcoming movie Yaara by Tigmanshu Dhulia. For about 3 years, Akbar and Azam Qadri wrote 100 stories for the award-winning radio show Yaadon Ka Idiot Box with Neelesh Misra on 92. 2 Big FM. They’ve also been a writer & showrunner with Star Plus. Their book Parakhnali was launched in the year 2018 and their directorial debut movie Shahzada Ali is streaming on MX Player. Akbar and Azam Quadri also wrote and produced a bi-weekly online comedy talk show Talk Hee Talk.
